Year 6 Transition Club
Elev8 is a homegrown resource finally made available for others to buy and use after being in use for over 15 years. Originally written and used as a day workshop it has been reformatted to be used in a club based setting. With 8
pre-planned sessions it gives opportunity for children in Year 6 to explore how they are feeling or what they are thinking about moving on to secondary school. Elev8 offers the ability to learn new skills, explore their emotions and helps them to practically prepare, all while creating a safe place to have fun, be creative and really get to grips with what things will be like.
Each child is given a handbook which also serves as an activity/workbook for during the sessions. The handbooks are colourful, dyslexia friendly and created to be enjoyable even to children who find reading hard. Full of different activities to do, including a doodle page, the books are used with enthusiasm.
The accompanying leaders guide is written so that no matter how experienced in running clubs with children, you have everything you need to get going. It includes advice on how to make contact with a school, check lists for each session of what you need to take, extra activity sheets that you can photocopy for each session and lots more.
