About Integrity Youthworks
Integrity Youthworks was set up by Lucy Skelton to be a resource of advice, support, training and physical resources.
Lucy first started in youth and kids ministry when she was just 12 years of age, helping as a young leader at her church Friday evening kids club and at her local inter-church youth group. Gradually taking on more responsibility both within kids ministry and within youth ministry she felt God very clearly tell her that she was to go into full-time youth ministry. Starting off in a gap year in a Scripture Union partner trust she worked as a Christian schoolsworker and a youth worker. Running clubs, putting on youth events and having lots of opportunities to see all the different sides of youth ministry. At the end of her gap year she went on to CYM and studied youth and community work and applied theology. Her degree also included work towards a JNC qualification requiring her to work not just for the church but also for local authority provisions. Lucy began at 19 to work for an anglican church as part of her degree and started out with very little youth ministry or youth at the church, by the end of her three years the youth ministry was flourishing and the size of the youth group had grown massivly. Lucy was very sad to leave that church when her degree ended as she had had so many opportunities and worked some amazing young people and adults. It was at this placement where she first worked on a young leaders programme and saw lots of young people become young leaders.
When she left university she began to work in Hastings as the schoolswork team leader for the Hastings Christian Trust. Lucy was with HCT for around 11 years, taking it from a Trust who did a few bits in schools to an efficient, effective widespread ministry. Serving all but one school in Hastings and St Leonards, supporting R.E, running clubs, taking acts of collect worship, coordinating and running prayer spaces, working on a Year 6 transition based resource and running an inter-church youth group which would include a yearly trip to Soul Survivor with the youth who came to the youth group. Again Lucy found herself to be in a pioneer role and began to realise that these were the positions that God seemed to have carved her out for.
In 2019 God called Lucy away from the sunny south coast and up to Lancashire to work for a large Anglican church in a small town called Clitheroe. Her and her family moved up to Clitheroe in February 2020, just before the first national lockdown. With everything stopping and somethings to never run again Lucy once again found herself in a pioneer role. Working in schools, running different groups and activities to reach young people with the gospel. After 20 years in full-time Christian youth ministry, Lucy decided it was time to start sharing her experience, knowledge and resources that she has accumulated and designed over the years, so that others could feel supported and have a step up as they serve the young people where God has called them to.
